Spring has finally arrived! The warmer weather has us all peeking our heads out and beginning to enjoy the sunshine.

The Board and the ownership would like to extend our heart-felt appreciation to outgoing Board member Tanner Postma. Tanner has served on our Board of Directors since 2002 and as our President for many years.  He has been integral to our work over the past ten years and will be hard to replace.  Tanner’s whole-hearted effort, sincerity, and dedication have ensured the success of Tidal Creek.

Tanner was instrumental in our store’s move from the old house on Wrightsville Avenue to our present location and oversaw our recent search for a General Manager.  Tanner embodies the spirit of community which is vital to the success of our Co-op. Tanner initiated many projects during his tenure and made owner relations a priority. He spearheaded the effort to coordinate the Owner Stew held last year at Jones Family Farm in Burgaw, NC.  Thanks to his efforts and brilliance, Tidal Creek Cooperative Food Market has achieved many tough goals.

Once again we appreciate all his hard work and dedication.  Tanner, we couldn’t have done it without you!

We would also like to extend our thanks to Anthony Gargiulio who has stepped up to become our next Board of Directors President.  Anthony has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2007.  We look forward to serving under his leadership.

This year we have been working to educate ourselves.  We have explored patronage dividends and our local economy.  Our next area of focus is expansion.  The Board of Directors will be reading about the experiences of three other co-ops as they decided to expand, or not to, and why.  The Board welcomes anyone who wants to participate.  Please come to our meetings held the fourth Monday of each month at 6pm in the Tidal Creek Community Center.
