Angela’s Pepper-Pickled Foods by Karla Pollock
Angela Cannon began selling her locally grown, pickled okra at the downtown farmers market in Wilmington, NC. It soon became a popular item and as business took off, Angela’s Pepper-Pickled Foods was born. Angela opened her own shop and extended her line of products to include other pickled vegetables -all of which are grown locally in North Carolina. Because Angela only pickles local produce, the availability of her products varies depending on what our North Carolina farmers have to offer. She pickles by hand, a few jars at a time, using the freshest produce, vinegar, distilled water, and spices. There are no preservatives or processed ingredients. Different varieties of peppers are used to create three heat levels: mild, getting hotter and hot.
You can find Angela’s Pepper-Pickled Foods here at Tidal Creek Co-op on Aisle 2. Additionally, you can pay Angela a visit Saturday mornings at the Riverfront Farmers’ Market downtown, on Wednesday mornings at the Poplar Grove Farmers’ Market or at her shop at 2105 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC, open Monday – Friday, 9am-4pm.
