  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil

Raw Chocolate Coating

  • 1/2 cup coconut nectar or date paste

  • 3/4 cup cacao powder

  • 1/3 cup coconut oil or cacao butter, melted

Preparation: Nougat layer

Preparation: Caramel layer

Blend all the ingredients together in a blender until you get a nice thick puree. Make sure that you are using as little water as possible. Dip your little nougat rolls into this puree and put them back into the freezer.

Preparation: Chocolate layer

Mix all of the ingredients until you get a smooth texture. You could also add some other ingredients such as sea salt or vanilla to bump up the taste!

When the caramel on your nougats are hard enough, take them out and cover them with your chocolate and put them back into the freezer one last time. Once they have frozen, take them out and serve!

3. Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie

3 Vegan Candies You Can Guiltlessly Indulge In This Halloween | Tidal Creek Co-op and Health Food Store In WilmingtonAlthough cookies are not technically a candy, they are arguably better. Enjoy them dipped in chocolate, covered in sprinkles, drizzled with vegan caramel, or plain. All of the ingredients required for these vegan cookies are easily available at Tidal Creek, one of the most well-stocked and versatile health food stores in Wilmington.

Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon fine salt

  • 2 sticks (8 ounces) unsalted non-hydrogenated margarine, at room temperature

  • 1 and 1/4 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon light (or mild) molasses

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 and 1/2 cups vegan semi sweet chocolate chips (about 10 ounces)

Directions

Heat oven to 350¡F and arrange a rack in the middle. Put the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium sized bowl and stir to mix them up completely; set aside.

Next, put the margarine and sugar in a bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment and beat it on medium-high speed for 3 minutes until you get light and fluffy dough. Scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Next, put the molasses and vanilla into a bowl and mix them for 2 minutes on medium-high speed until they have thoroughly mixed. Now add your flour mixture to this one and mix on low speed until both have combined. Finally, add the chocolate chips and mix again on low speed until it has combined.

Now drop the one tablespoon of your dough at a time onto a baking sheet, make sure that the dough balls are sufficiently spaced. Press on each ball so that they flatten just a bit so that they begin to look like a cookie. Bake until your cookies for about 11 minutes, and look golden brown around the edges.

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool for about 5 minutes. If you have multiple batches then repeat the procedure!
