Spring Garden Day.FB Event Graphic2.png

The past few weeks have ushered in a lot of change here at the Co-op. With new management and spring right around the corner, there’s a shift in energy at the store, and we want to celebrate it!

Some of the Tidal Creek staff had the great idea of restoring our two raised garden beds that have fallen into disrepair, and adding a couple more, as well as a zinnia garden dedicated to long-time Tidal Creek family member, Sue Derstine, who passed away at the end of last year.

We decided to make a day of it, and invite our community to join us for an afternoon of gardening, with food from our deli, and hopefully a local musician or two – along with our very own Mike Slaton (fun fact: Mike helped build our original garden beds)! We’ll also have yard games and a station set up to make egg carton seed-starters, so bring the whole family!

Our focus for 2017 is to rebuild the community of the Co-op, and that means more events, more outreach, and more welcoming of faces old and new to embody our motto: Locally Grown. Community Owned.

In that spirit, we’re looking for some volunteer effort to make our Co-op garden dreams a reality. We’re looking for:

  • scrap wood to build the frames for the new garden beds
  • soil (preferably organic)
  • garden-loving folks to help with the hands-on tasks
  • musicians/minstrels/singer-songwriters

If you’d like to get involved, please email Shaylah Paul at shaylah@tidalcreek.coop. We hope to see you on Sunday, March 19th from 3 -6 PM to welcome a vibrant and fun-filled spring season!
