KELSEY GIBBS

Meet Kelsey Gibbs and learn more about how she would like to help make a difference in our community!

Are you an Owner?
Yes

How often do you shop at the Co-op?
Pretty much daily, sometimes twice a day.

Have you ever volunteered or worked at the Co-op?
No, but I SERIOUSLY offered to wash dishes and the offer still stands.

Do you have any experience sitting on a Board of Directors?
No, I have attended two meetings to give owner comments.

What unique skills or perspective do you feel you would bring to the Board?
I’m passionate about living a more sustainable lifestyle and I have a degree in graphic design from NCSU and know how to convey messages in an attractive way. I changed my habits in the last few years Ð watching documentaries, researching health through nutrition, and really evaluating my actions and how they affect my body and our environment. I would like to share this perspective and learn more! I’d like to see Tidal Creek collaborate and cross-promote with more local businesses. Have a documentary viewing night in the yard and totally re-merchandise the bulk food area to promote bringing your own containers

What is your reason or motivation to run for the Board of Directors?
I would like to find ways to generate more money for the co-op, while reducing waste, and continuing to support local products and produce. I’ve been encouraged by several employees and current board members to run. I CARE. This seems like the best platform to make good things happen.

What makes Tidal Creek Coop Important to you?
Community based, local focus, offers clean/local food, and holistic values.

Are you able to donate the time necessary to be an effective Board member?
YES, I’m here everyday anyway!

What else would you like Tidal Creek Co-op Owners to know about you?
I own The Wonder Shop, located at 22 N. Front St., selling vintage and new clothing. Being in the retail and fashion industry, I’ve become aware of some serious priority issues and really damaging practices that are considered normal. Packing and food waste is a big one. I voted for Danielle R. last year because I agree with her no plastic platform.

Good luck Kelsey!
