Join us for the NC Coastal Federation’s SHELLEBRATION Oyster Roast on Saturday, March 1 from 4-7 pm on the lawn at Tidal Creek Co-op, rain or shine! It’s a SHELLEBRATION of North Carolina oysters and a healthy coast, featuring live music by Big Al Hall, craft beer, games and over $1000 in door prizes.
Bring your friends and family and fill up on steamed oysters, corn chowder and dessert. Then grab a beer and boogie down to some live bluegrass music. Tickets ($35 members; $45 nonmembers) are now available online at www.nccoast.org or in-person at Tidal Creek’s Customer Service Desk.
In addition to being a culinary treat, oysters are critical to coastal water quality and habitat. Healthy oyster beds are a sign of good water quality. (One oyster can filter up to 35 gallons of water per day.) And they provide food and habitat for more than 300 organisms, including crabs, shrimp and all kinds of fish. All event proceeds will benefit the Coastal Federation’s environmental education programs.
